Introducing SSH access

This information is outdated. Please request SSH access to support@dlnet.org.

SSH and SFTP access is now available for all customers, both Basic and Pro. This opens the way for many new methods of uploading and managing your websites.

SSH (Secure Shell) is a protocol that allows you to connect to the command line interface of your server. Once connected, you can edit files, download files and run programs live.

SFTP (SSH File Tranfer Protocol) is an alternative to regular FTP, allowing you to upload files to your website in a secure and modern way. Connecting with SFTP works just like FTP and is supported by most FTP clients.

Connecting to your website using SSH

On Windows, first download Putty. Fill in ssh.simple-webhosting.eu in the Host Name field and press open. Then enter your control panel user and password.

On Mac OSX and Linux, open a terminal. Then enter ssh username@ssh.simple-webhosting.eu (replace username with your control panel username) and press enter. Then enter your password and press enter again.

Connecting to your website using SFTP

You can connect using SFTP just like you connect using FTP when using FileZilla. Just enter 22 in the port field and ssh.simple-webhosting.eu in the host name field.
